Our Tecnam P2008 Microlight training aircraft
Hauraki Aero Club is a Microlight Flight Training organisation offering the alternative of a sport licence for those not able to meet the aviation medical requirements.
It is ideal for seniors who have always wanted to fly and who can now afford it, and also a cheap and easy way to introduce young people to aviation. Take a Trial Flight in our Tecnam P2008 where you take the controls and experience flying the plane yourself.
Trial flights and training are carried out from the Sir Keith Park Memorial airfield near Thames and over the surrounding Hauraki Plains and Coromandel Peninsula.

You can learn to fly at any age but solo flight is not allowed until the age of 16. You do not need a special licence to begin, only a valid medical certificate from your own GP when you are ready to go solo. Hauraki Aero Club will train you to the highest standard, always with safety at the forefront. Costs can be spread over whatever time period suits you and your budget.
Contact Cliff on 027 480 5454, or email info@haurakiaeroclub.co.nz to talk about flight training .

CAA’s new posters produced as part of their safety campaign
Work Together, Stay Apart is an industry-wide safety campaign led by the CAA to reduce the likelihood of mid-air accidents and the number of near collision and air proximity events within the circuit at unattended aerodromes. The campaign was launched in June 2023 and will span a two-year period with initiatives such as seminars for industry participants, working groups to address specific issues, and educational material. You can find more information about the safety campaign and what’s coming up on the CAA website: aviation.govt.nz/wtsa
